    Christmas 1955

Journaling: I remember this Christmas, when Billy got the guitar and I got the Ukulele. Christmasís past, so simple was life when I was a little girl. Momma always managed to get the things we'd wished for the most. Like the cash register that's sitting under the tree or the pretend operator phone board. I wanted these sooooo bad and there they were. And oh my goodness I think thatís the punching bag by Billy that always hung in front of the basement door.

Memories, boy there are millions when I look at these pictures. Tinsel on the tree, Momma would patiently put a strand at a time on so it hung free and swayed as we walked past. Billy would wait until her back was turned, grin that silly little grin of his and toss a clump onto the tree, evil little stinker! Knotty pine walls that Daddy put up in the living room, how beautiful that knotty pine was. I still have a soft spot for it when I see it. The look on Momma's face as she opens this gift. I wonder what it was that had her ohhhhing with such enthusiasm? Notice the apron, she always had one on, Holiday or not, aprons were an everyday thing in our household. Wallpapered walls, and the little crocheted doggie, Edith, Grandpa's wife, made that for me. I think one of my kids still has him.

Christmas was such a special time growing up. No matter how old we grew everyone ended up back home to open presents Mom had put under the tree. Then dinner, stuff everywhere, cookies and candies and snacks galore, not to mention a scrumptious Holiday dinner. Yep Christmas memories are such a great part of my life!
