    Living My Dream

It all started back in the 6th grade. We were studying Egypt and the Pyramids and my teacher made the subject so interesting that she instilled in me a life long love of and desire to know more about history and the past. It wasnít until I was grown, married and my kids grown up that I got the chance to indulge and immerse myself in my desire to dig into the past. The town I live in decided to develop one of the Indian ruins nearby and hired an Archaeological Firm to investigate the ruins and excavate them. The Archaeologists needed volunteers to help them with the work and an article in the paper about the site and the need for volunteers was all it took. I stopped in at the museum they were setting up and asked how I could volunteer. I was told that I just had and was put to work right away helping in the museum. I signed up for classes to learn excavation and
preservation techniques and how to catalog and ready the artifacts found for storage and display in the museum. Thus began one of the best times of my life, I was living my dream and hanging around with Indiana Jones look-a-likes and having adventures of my own. One thing led to another and soon I was volunteering on other projects and helping with archaeological surveys of the area, a time of my life that I look back on and canít believe it really happened to me!
